Home Health Care News and Forcura recently published a report on the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in home health agency operations. They conducted the study in August and September 2024. The authors found that 43% of respondents stated that their AI deployment is focused on clinical support at the point of care. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, agencies have received an increase in the referral of patients with more complex illnesses. Given the current staff shortage, many care providers are looking for alternative approaches to serving this influx of new patients. The report found that 58% of respondents indicated that they have already invested in AI or plan to invest in AI in the coming year. These providers seek to use AI to optimize workflow and operational efficiency while reducing staff burdens. Smaller organizations often have one person managing multiple tasks. By leveraging AI to automate mundane tasks that do not require human decision-making, small operators can reduce staff stresses. For more information about the study, click here.
